An intelligent person will be able to score high on any IQ test regardless of their motivation. The same cannot be said about on an academic test. A whole nation may even perform sub-optimal on academic tests based on the quality of education and prevalence of multilingual students whose mother-tounge is not the teaching medium.

In some way you can do that assuming everyone in the sample had the exact same education. You’ll still have plenty of outliers who just studied harder and scored better, or struggle with school despite high non-verbal IQ.
