What if consciousness is not really the brain, or the mind, but rather, consciousness is the soul.

Consciousness necessitates the existence of a metaphysical soul in some form because there's no other way to explain the interaction between the conscious mind and physical matter. The fact that a thought, something you "experience" in a metaphysical manner, can translate into direct physical action means some sort of bridge must exist between the processes of physics and the separate processes of metaphysics

nope, it's in the brain.

That's why if people get traumatic brain injury in just the right way they will be retarded for the rest of their lives. There are many conditions that can happen to the brain that demonstrate it's the brain that is conscious

Consciousness =/= mental capacity, retard. If you show someone the color red and then scrape out their entire visual cortex, you'll blind them, but you can't remove their intrinsic experience and understanding of what it's like to see red.
There's no evidence that a mentally disabled person is "less conscious" than a healthy person any more than a plant is "less alive" than a dog.

sure you fucking can.You an give someone so much brain trauma that they will do nothing but sit in a chair and drool for the rest of their days. They are alive but the "I" is gone due to trauma.

yes there is. Go look at the Terry Shivo case. She could not swallow or focus her eyes on anyone. She was a liviing body without what we migth call consciousness... a sense of self

>well uh actually if you shoot someone in the head 38 times until there's absolutely zero brain activity then they won't have any brain activity
Yeah no fucking shit retard, that has no bearing on consciousness, you're just a dead body full of living cells hooked to a machine. If I rip the hard drive out of my PC then boot it to BIOS that doesn't disprove the existence of operating systems
