Time dilates as the speed of time approaches.
At the speed of light, time is gone.
Forever and instantly are the same thing to a photon. Where it came from and where it gets absorbed are touching the way it sees it.

If space is expanding as light is traveling through it, does that mean the light's wavelength expands and that it loses energy overtime thereby violating the second law?

Stretching the wavelength of light doesn't violate conservation of energy. The wavelength is at a lower frequency so it has less energy per second, but its duration is increased so it has the same total energy.
