I don't have a huge problem with NDT, Nye, or Sabine. My only real beef is they never learned from Walter Cronkite in how to separate opinion from fact.
NDT's opinions on aliens, God, anthropic principle etc. are fundamentally no different from Donald Trump's. They both come from the same place, "I am an authority on something unrelated".
The people asking science educators about philosophy are looking for validation. Don't give them that comfort, don't tell them how to think.

I think most people know the difference between a scientist who publishes papers and does experiments etc as opposed to a science advocate/evangelist/reporter. They're just people whose job it is to take scientific information and retell it in a way that general non scientific public can understand.
