I think it depends on how many channels you're subscribed to. I'm subscribed to 111 channels right now and it pretty much only recommends videos from those people or other closely related people. The channels I'm subscribed to are pretty much all gaming channels and all my recommendations are for gaming content. I think that people who are recommended news channels like Fox or CNN and late night TV shows either are watching those videos occasionally, or they're not subscribed to many channels. I'm thinking it's probably because those organizations pay youtube to be recommended to people when the algorithm doesn't have much data to provide more recommendations for someone

delete cookies , anonymize your browser fingerprint , Hide your IP with tor. Dont log into an account unless you need to to watch age restricted videos. Sometimes getting videos that are similar to what you watched before is actually useful.

I don’t use the Home page at all, instead I have a meticulously well curated subscription page that only shows me what I want, not what they want.
