>Born 25 weeks premature and became blind and brain damaged from oxygen poisoning
>Severely Autistic - never learned to count, poor motor control, language capabilities remained at the level of a 4-year-old.
>Had perfect pitch, and quickly mastered the piano. Gave a concert at age 7.
>Can reproduce and transcribe any piece on piano just by hearing it once. Perfect memory of every piece he has ever played.

The human brain is quite fascinating indeed.

Indeed, though I would extend this to all life is fascinating

Well, life would be certainly be very boring if there wasn't any, wouldn't it?

These autistic savants really fucking intrigue me. This other retard (Kim Peek) has an IQ of 87, but has a perfect memory of every book he's ever read. It's like certain brain regions are re-purposed for savant abilities, thereby leading to a tradeoff.

Im pretty sure he's released a piano album (havent bothered listening).

Brain scans show that to be the case. Severe autism is defined by hyperactivity of singular brain regions and atrophy of basically every other brain region.

>can't count
If he can memorize songs, why can't he memorize a few numbers?
Makes no sense. Probably fake.

Interestingly trans-cranial magnetic stimulation can lead to the development of new cognitive abilities. They did this study on this autistic mechanic once, where they stimulated certain areas of his brain with TMS can it made him able to read faces. In fact TMS is starting to be adopted as an alternative treatment for depression.

Somebody should write a song about counting to help this poor lad out.

I've read about savants a fair bitin the past looking for information but there's not much around. Probably because there's hardly any of them. Daniel Tammet stood out a bit because he was fairly normal. But it's kind of annoying that the brain can be so powerful yet nobody can access it.
