How does one put an end to the replication crisis induced destruction of traditional science? Is there anything that on individual can do in order to help the cause of saving science from the activists who are clearly willing the destroy it in pursuit of some other, less noble goal?

You have to get at the underlying culture in academia. “Publish or perish” is a real thing, and creates pressure to pump out new, low-quality papers. Secondarily, you need to fund replication studies. Maybe tie to funding, e.g., for every 5 NSF grants on new research, you have 1 grant that funds replication.
