Why am I always hungry when using brain actively to solve problems like math, programming or report writing?

biologically you are using up chemicals and the body demands the stores of their precursor chemicals be refreshed immediately
psychologically you expect your hard work to lead to a reward - otherwise you would be doing no work. if i'm working, surely there must be food involved
anecdotally you must be trying too hard, stop caring so much, take it easy, and the problem will go away on its own, surely

Philosophically you have made the distinction between your brain and "you", thus you are an idealists and recognize the mind-body distinction.

scientifically speaking, if this is your opinion, then under this model is your brain still "you" after you finish playing in the woodchipper?

Philosophically speaking, the brain was never "you", it is merely an additional component within the whole of your physical interface device (body) which allows for the expression of "you" in 3D space.

Once this interface vessel ceases to exist, as would happen in the case of playing in a woodchipper, so does "your" ability to express "yourself".

Yet, "you" don't cease to exist.

brain consumes energy, don't remember the exact numbers, but it's quite significant. look up glycemic index, blood sugar response curves. the key is low index snacks, proteins, and pacing yourself through the day.

it also can be some stress relief thing.

inb4 shitty chart, don't care.

Idealism is not the same as dualism. In fact they are opposites.

Try some sweets like dark chocolate. Usually helps me to quickly raise the blood sugar

I'm already consuming like 500g of chocolate per day. At some point I'll get diabeetus, certainly.

>Why am I always hungry when using brain actively

The brain burns more calories than any other organ in the body. It's not rocket science.
