Studies have shown that the covid shot makes the body treat covid like an allergen rather than a virus, shifting the immune response to a less-effective type which lets the virus stay in the body for extended periods of time. Same way no one is immune to the flu. It has too many reservoirs and mutates at a high enough rate that herd immunity is not possible. It's not possible to eradicate a virus without herd immunity and eradication doesn't actually mean it will never recur. Eradication means the probability of re-occurence is low enough that herd immunity would not be compromised.

Herd immunity only works if people actually vaccinate their kids to prevent large scale infections. If they don't then the virus will re-establish itself in human hosts

Because vaccinated "immunity" (it doesn't provide any btw, even the companies will tell you this) goes away if the virus has a single functional mutation on the spike protein. Natural immunity meanwhile is based on antibodies that attack multiple surface proteins and cells which recognize the nucleocapsid of the virus in other ways, meaning that a single mutation on a single protein won't interfere with the immune response.
