Not nearly as much as liberals and the media want you to believe. If you think a giant 4.5 million year old iron rock is capable of becoming uninhabitable by active living of a species in 200 or so years, then you're a god damned idiot.

deep down, I really don't give a fuck as long as there are enough resources for me.

this is how most people are, some will trick themselves into thinking they care about the environment because the TV tells them to but really if you look at our actions long-term, nobody gives a god damn at all. deal with it.

Uninhabitable? No, probably not. That was not my implication.

Uninhabitable for humanity? Yes.

The destruction of the environment is an ongoing process, nowhere did I imply the process was complete or that we were even close.

But we are destroying our environment with the mentality of infinite growth in a finite system (Earth.)

And seeing that there are no other habitable bodies in the solar system (yet) it would be in our interest to tread lightly until we do.

Not in the impossibly short time span that you're proposing. Volcanoes produce a hundred times the amount of CO2 that humans do every year. The largest volcano ever to erupt produced several hundred thousand times the amount of CO2 we did in 2007.
