Insects are creepy because they are living robots. They are fundamentally repugnant to humans because they are lower than animals on the scale of intelligence. Insects are creepy because their bodies move in very fast and incomprehensible ways compared to a human. Also I wouldn't say they aren't intelligent, more so that they don't really have emotion. Their emotions seem to be aggression and fear and nothing in-between.
