now this analogy is not complete since new models should create new predictions. But in general, I don't see an issue with the below meme. It's just the scientific method at work. In fact, in this case it's further unrealistic by implying that the new model is completely correct as in 1+1+1 does actually equal 3. Not to imply dark matter is the answer to the weird galaxy formation question and all that, but it is just one "hypothetical dark number" out of many, trying to reconcile gaps in our knowledge.
