I read this quite recently and I enjoyed it as a sort of loose collection of historical and anthropological tidbits. And I'm not at all surprised that it won all the pulitzers and nobels and purple hearts back when it came out. It is pure

A funny part that stuck with me from the book:

And that they could interbreed (even though being technically different species of mules) creating little less aggressive and little more docile mules. Just lmao.

Very closely related animals which evolved in different geographical locations developed radically different behavioral patterns. That is in the book "debunking" the very same phenomenon in humans. I guess the author is a creationist or something.

Its a popsci book written by someone talking out of his field. Not worth discussing. Plenty of popsci books are released everyday. Hard to refute all of them. Another classic for your brain dead leftists is the 1619 project and the bastardization of history it proposes.

Books are hard to refute because you need to spend a lot of time researching and going over them. They make a whole bunch of claims that are correct and not correct and alot of it is just filler to make it more entertaining to read so they sell more of them. Its also multi disciplinary. Someone who studies ancient egbytians wont know that much about the inca or china. If you want critics of it go to the wikipedia page click reception and then go through the critics then sources for the critics. Find someone whose in the field for one of the books claim and read what they say.

In Damascus the blacksmiths found ore which produced some of the best steel on the planet, but as soon as the ore ran out they stopped being able to produce any steel at all. Meanwhile elsewhere less fortunate people's had to painstakingly learn how to turn iron ore to pig iron to steel with microstructered annealling. Real intelligent knowledge that leads to real power.

The issue with popsci is not usually the facts outlined. Its the narrative they try to string together with the random facts while also ignoring things that may contradict the narrative they push.
Its like pointing to 4 flowers on the ground and saying we are in a field of flowers when you are surrounded by trees.
Best example of this is the 1619 project. Post a bunch of quotes and factoids string them together into a narrative ignore everything else. Ignore other expert opinions of the matter. Ignore other interpetations. Did guns germ and steel ever bring up different interpetations or things that may contradict their narrative? Best case is they build up a strawman narrative.
