Why are psychedelics illegal?

It was found by the clandestine entities of the planet that the effects of psychedelic drugs can be achieved endogenously without the need for the drugs at all, and in fact this was vastly preferable as it is a personality filter, it is useless for people to be able to freely reach these states as these states require certain types of subjective framing in order to be effective, and this subjective framing is exactly what the people that can achieve these states on their own possess.

TL;DR: They prefer the psychics that they employ have a monopoly on these experiences, and it is partly because they effectively are the difference in quality between a "professional" and an "amateur". The amateurs are just wastes. Not useful.

Anyhow, the only way that I could see this ever becoming legal, or how it ever should become legal would be in a medically licensed facility. They would set things up to be a comfortable environment, full of colors, a choice of music playing. You could pay to have very small groups come in, be monitored, and the facility could potentially even perform some observance studies with the signing of a waiver. It would be safe, and we would be able to get a little research out of it.
