Mechanical isn't considered lunatic mode. I mean seriously it isn't all that hard, I've only had two classes where the highest grade in the class was 30-40. Supposedly the electricals and aerospaces have 3 classes like that.

Also have you ever heard the story of the MIT target? Well it goes like this: There's this one building that's a really popular suicide spot during the end of a semester. Some jokers decided to put a bullseye for the jumpers to hit. (Un)funny thing is, people actually tried to hit it.

In mechanical engineering we're making algorithms to automatically design stuff for us. Automatically design as in you tell the algorithm what you want with simple symbols any idiot could use. In effect, we're making something like skynet, only without all the human killingness.(though asking the algorithm to combine a blender and a bazooka produced something totally awesome!) It may even make take away our jobs some day.

Write about stuff or research it? Son, you don't know how the world works. You do research, you write it up, you publish it. That's how things work. Also you can discover new shit in engineering. It doesn't necessarily have to be pure research for one to discover new shit.

BS only, chem E.

Ph. D. -> chemistry

a Ph. D. in Chem E is essentially just going to be doing chemistry anyway (like research level laboratory chemistry), and the Chemist Ph. D. often has a much firmer basis in synthetic chemistry and is applicable to a wider range of fields.

I know Ph. D. Chemists who make semiconductors for a living.

Chemical engineering has little to do with "chemistry". The common points are thermodynamics and kinetics I suppose. Chemical engineering used to be a sub-discipline of mechanical engineering after all. There's quite a bit of fluid mechanics, energy balance, mass balance and such in Chem E.

However, everyone has a different idea of what Chem E actually is. I can say that being good at chemistry is not required to be a good chemical engineer.

I ALWAYS score higher than them in any classes we share, and yet they act like they are the ones that need to be helping me because they are SO GREAT. I have worked with them in labs and they always show themselves to be no more useful than a trained monkey. Nikola Tesla (Serbian: Никола Тесла; 10 July 1856 – 7 January 1943) was an inventor, mechanical engineer, and electrical engineer. He was an important contributor to the birth of commercial electricity, and is best known for his many revolutionary developments in the field of electromagnetism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries

Civil.

Haters gonna hate, but they wouldn't hate very long if there weren't Civ Engies to create an infrastructure within which they can hate in relative safety and comfort.

Civil engineers are dirt doctors
Chemical Engineers love pipe flow.
Electrical Engineers have no friends.
Computer Engineers are electrical engineers that don't want to explain to their friends that they can't install an aircon for them.
Aerospace Engineers are the slackest engineers who just stick everything into modelling software and get paid to wait for it to process.
Mechanical Engineers claim to be able to do all of the above, but in reality only know how to tell other people to do it.
Mechatronics engineers can actually do all of the above.
