No idea what you mean by the cube "pointing up or down" but I can see either the lower or the higher square as the front depending on how I focus on it.

>> No.15146873

>>15146860
I think what they mean is the direction of the "Front" face, so either facing up or down.
I suppose they meant that a smart person would look at the cube from multiple angles. However, I'm not convinced this would be a measure of intelligence

>> No.15146875

>>15146800
I spooked myself by snapping the front face forwards, as if the cube was jumping at me.

I feel like this intelligence test is written by a retard.

>> No.15146880

>>15146873
Maybe I'm a retard but I don't understand what "the direction of the front face" means. The front face is the face that faces the viewer. It faces forward. What changes is which face you interpret to be facing the viewer, e.g. the angle of the camera. If the lower square is the front, you're looking from above. If the higher square is the front, you're looking from below.

You are, but that's OK.

It is true the angle of view changes. By default, I see the "down" position where the front face is down and right, with an unobstructed view of the top of the cube.

If I focus on the middle of the cube, the front face is up and left, with the bottom of the cube unobstructed. The question isn't if you know the difference but if you can switch between them in picrel.

>> No.15146974

>>15146967
So it's what I said but your verbal IQ of 80 forces you to talk about it in terms of Z-aligned faces pointing "up" and "down"?

>>15147058
This is one of many optical illusions in this category. The reason most people see the down cube, is because the angle skew from the projection of the cube to paper is less severe than the up cube.

There are also illusions like this for other senses too.

wrong, 1 is interesting because everything is degenerate/easy

2 usually has very special properties

3 is usually complicated or has unique special cases

4 always has the fucked up shit going on and loads of unique cases

5+ and finite is all the same

Infinite is difficult but useful
