the principle of mediocrity is wrong and life as it exists on earth is extremely rare perhaps rare enough to happen on average only once in a typical galaxy. The chances of two intelligent beings from different bio-genesis events ever detecting each other is vanishingly small.

Life as we know it requires a sunlike star. So far less than 20 stars with similar characteristics to the Sun have been found in the galaxy. The implications for the Drake Equation are obvious.

>> No.15135468

I think we are looking at this wrong.

Just like here on earth, why stay at a dull party. Rather then space exploration, they and almost every other life will instead travel other realities to find the fun stuff.

Leave space mapping of home galaxy to drones. Stop in to gather information and keep things alive, watch and learn the entire existence in a fraction of time to you and enjoy the memory dump of a new friend. Then we all meet up as a mass consciences on the other side.
No way to prove that though.
Be good to one another.

That is to say.
Anything smart enough to visit is smart enough to scan all our our brains digest it and keep doing that. Maybe already have been since forever. If so, then why make contact ahead of our own ascendency? If you just kept doing that you would be more like an invasion force then a visiting friend. And any other aliens would think less of you, presumably.

Instead of this, I think sticking to this reality and persisting here instead of operating a personal reality traveling machine and hopping around absorbing new and interesting real space spawn cultures is way cooler then space empire building.

maybe life isnt uncommon, but intelligent civilizations like humans are? It took 4 billion years to get to this point, we have a pretty damn comfy situation with our sun and celestial bodies, a moon, etc. Reptiles, Insects, etc had billions of years to become self-aware or in a sense space faring but never did.

I also have to think that space travel is not feasible on the interstellar scale. the money, the logistics, and the time-frames involved are possibly in the thousands of years, basically becoming spaceship civilizations, who themselves might not be able to report back to their home planet because of the distances. It doesn't seem like a reasonable thing to do.

Are there actual papers with data and evidence and shit to prove anything? I'd love to read some of them.

Not encountering aliens is a good thing. Every time an advanced culture meets a less advanced culture things don't end well for the less advanced culture.

you are a clown. Aliens could live on dyson sphere or halo like colonies, or cylinders. Not just moons or planets. If they had the technology to travel here then they probably have the technology to build space colonies
