So it's common knowledge that all all the atoms in your body were created by a supernova, we are made from "star stuff".

However what is less well know is that to get the required amounts of the heavier elements needed to create life on earth you have been through *two* supernova explosions. The Sun is a third generation star.

It's also why it's less likely for aliens to have existed earlier in the universe because the material around first and second generations stars was not rich enough to create complex chemicals.
