Yes, with the caveat that we define "the universe" as "everything that is visible with our telescopes." The total number of atoms in the universe is estimated at 10^82. That's a very large number, but also significantly smaller than the total number of possible 4chan posts. This doesn't maintain under cosmic inflation, a popular cosmological theory, because then there would be an infinite amount of space and matter.

We have 26 letters we can use, in upper or lower case. You can also write in Russian, Hebrew, Arabic, etc., but we can ignore that. With 52 letters from both cases and say 38 more characters from numbers and punctuation marks, we get 90 possible characters.

We also get 2000 characters to a post.

So, there would be 90 possie posts with 1 character. 90^2 for two characters, all possible combinations, 8,100 possibilities, 729,000 for three, 65+ million for four, and very quickly you can see how this gets to be a very big number.

There are 90^2000 possible 4chan messages, which absolutely dwarfs the number of atoms.

why so many adults maintain a fixation on childhood entertainments into their adult years?
why is being immature and failing to progress in life so popular?

52! > number of atoms in the known universe
52! is the ways you can order 52 things, like the cards in a deck of 52 different cards.
In a room of 20 people there is about a 50% chance that any two of them will have the same birthday

It makes sense once you realise that the universe is big but empty.

>>15072500
Exactly

>>15072480
Chess players need only to be prepared for realistic positions. When we count all the possible positions many of them are quite bizarre.
>>15072361
What exactly do you not believe? The number of chess positions or the number of atoms?

/sci/ can't math and as a result can't do combinatorics

What did he mean by this?

Ok I guess. We can't really estimate the number of atoms in the parts of the cosmos where we can't see?

That our universe, beyond our current perception, could be (in)deterministic set of all possible combinations itself.

Chess doesn't matter. It's a game that exists purely for entertainment. Any amount of attention spent on it for any purpose outside of a small amount of time playing the game enjoyment when there is nothing else to do is a complete waste of time.
