Can being lonely make me more intelligent?

>> No.15043638

the correlation between loneliness and intelligence marginally exists but is overrepresented by narcissitic midwits who frame their insufferableness with misunderstood genius

Not really

Yes/no. The less you spend with others the more you can learn about a give subject, but this has its limitations. Eventually you will need to talk to other to gain further understanding.

No, loneliness makes you dumber

>> No.15045532

Solitude is the best thing for intellectual growth, but not production.

This, really it makes you dumber because socialization is a natural test and really a necessity for a healthy brain. No great scientist didn't interact with anyone

there's enough 'socialization' on the internet, and no, its not a requirement in life to be very social. tell that to the cabin people that live in alaska. loneliness does not automatically equate to negativity. monks understand that the base of reality is nature and they try and become closely connected

No, but playing dumb or acting stupid is common for high intelligence

You definitely need balance. It's not healthy to put all your eggs in going hermit mode and trying to be the smartest guy. I think its cope from people who all they have is their intelligence to say you can't do both or that you shouldn't. Many of my best ideas pop up as I'm talking about something with someone and sure yeah you can literally only study seriously on your own at the end of the day but that doesn't mean neglecting socialization will make you smarter

>> No.15047340

No, being lonely does not make a person more intelligent. The quality of your intelligence is determined by a medley of environmental, genetic and experiential factors. That being said, loneliness can lead to more reflection, which can help you to increase the depth and breadth of your knowledge on certain topics.

If you want to understand human behavior, psychology, or sociology, it is better to be lonely and observe people from the outside. When you are part of a group and accepted in society you are blind to certain things they take for granted because you are part of it.
