Why do you nerds NEED money to accomplish goals like traveling to space or curing diseases or pushing new inventions? It's not like money magically creates resources, we obviously already have means to do whatever we want but for some reason we can't because of "muh funding"

yeah, because to research people need "food" and "equipment", these needy bastards...

Have you tried building anything, ever?

Of course, it's not the money but the labor that actually creates those things. We are at the limits of capitalism. Socialism just makes sense.

Why don't you go get a gf instead of shitposting, 14 is just about the time to start dating, plus you will need to put in extra effort because you're retarded

At the risk of explaining the obvious, nobody ever thinks that more money magically generates the solution to a particular problem.

No anon, more money allows one to buy more equipment, hire skilled personnel, acquire more and/or rare materials, allows one to conduct more expensive research/experiments that might yield more insights if not solutions to the particular problem et al.

It's the same argument about "Money can't buy happiness." Of course it can't directly buy happiness (unless you use it to buy cocaine or meth). But it can allow you to buy things and experiences that make you happy and the same logic applies for funding and grants.

The problem is the people that have the money see no profit to be had in the research even if it would set humanity forward by leaps and bounds (key example being a moon base). The upfront costs are stupidly expensive and the investment likely won't see a significant R.o.I in several decades even if a moon base would be a good first step to colonizing our solar system and the galaxy at large.

Yeah you're right. So what's stopping you from gathering all the resources you need and creating your own rocket ship?

Academics are so retarded to think we could colonize our solar system when we can't even stop warring or deal with obesity in developed countries. This is why you don't get funding. Go play with your rubik's cube faggot

But you have to pay to obtain said resources.

>It's not like money magically creates resources

OP is skirting around a VERY dangerous subject. The kind of thing that if enough people would realize, then those with the power of money would start a war simply to distract people, muddy the waters, and confuse everyone again.

It's true that money is not a real resource. It's not a placeholder for a resource.
Money has inserted itself as the middle man of everything that we do. Our lives have been "engineered" this way so those with the money can use this position of "middle man" as a lever of power. It's a completely unnecessary component of our society.
However as money has been forced into literally every part of our lives, it's also become a single point of failure for society. This single point of failure can take the world hostage (like Dr. Evil in Austin powers) and in 2008 that's exactly what happened. The banks of the world took everyone hostage, governments of the world capitulated. This is their world now. If the world ever became "economically stable" again then the power they hold over everyone would wane and weaken. They will never allow the world to become economically stable again without a 10 year plan to simply crash it again as a kind of "reap and sow" strategy. The world will never be free so long as peoples lives are dependent on money. People will never be free so long as they're dependent on money.
