How are humans not the apex predators of the Earth? Just because some are vegans doesn't mean that humans don't kill literally every other species and eat it (even other humans)

why did you come to /sci/ to deboonk an obviously wrong and retarded google search screenshot

because I'm not trying to debunk it, I've had this on my mind for a few days, didn't know what board to ask this on (i'm not a biologist)

Honestly just non-sense spread by retards who fail to take into account the vastly superior intelligence of humans and try to stuff things into categories where they don't belong.
It's because of our intelligence that we managed to have an agricultural revolution and radically change our diet; this does not mean we are "naturally agricultural beings" (not to mention all the nutrients necessary for survival we'd lack if we were to fully disregard meat without taking supplements).
I'd say the categories we assign to animals assume much lower intelligence.

Humans tend to be more clever and cunning than other animals,
but "vastly superior intelligence" is anthropocentric hubris.

I thought "apex predator" means that you're at the top of the food chain? If you get trapped with a polar bear, you'll find out pretty quickly that you're not at the top of the food chain.

Long long term cybernetic feedback loop. I was created by my mother and father. But my mother and father and I are a part of a million year old material history that slowly centralizes intelligence and exponentialy increases entropy.

Let's take a random apex predator, such as a lion. An average lion is an apex predator. Even the lower status quarter of a lion is an apex predator.

Now, would you call the average human an apex predator? No way. And certainly not the lower quartile of human status.

Are the top 1% of humans (hunters) apex predators? Absolutely. But then again, the top 1% of squids (prey) can kill their predators (sperm whale). That doesn't make squids an apex predator. It makes giant squids a fucking anomaly.

Humans aren't apex predators and the ones who can fend for themselves (e.g. Brock Lesnar) are freaky anomalies.

No they don't. Even if they did, they'd be apex predators yes. Do you know how young a lion is when it can start hunting on its own?

My point is that if you take a random human being, throw it into a cage fight with a random lion, the lion is going to tear the human limb from limb. In contrast, if you take a random lion and a random gazelle, lock them in a cage, the lion is going to win 99.999% of the time.

There is no way in hell humans are apex predators. For fucks sake, take a random human and throw it into a cage with feral goose and the goose will kill the human kek.

>>15015860
ah yes geese are better than us that's why they're bred to be enslaved and eaten :)

>> No.15015918

Not sure what the debate is.

If humans can use tools they develop with their superior intelligence, then yes, no doubt we are apex. I'm not talking about nuclear weapons, planes or any silliness like that.

I mean just one guy with an AR and a thermal scope. When I night hunt with my thermal, I could wipe out 99% of wildlife in any given area. The only thing that would constrain me is the amount of ammo I brought with me and if something decided to just hide in a hole in the ground.

Other anon raises a good point. an apex predator should be evaluated based on an AVERAGE or a RANDOM representative of the species, not outliers.
