There's 2 different categories there:
1 science ideas that went wrong because of unforeseen (or suppressed/ignored) unintentional side effects
2 science ideas that went wrong because they were right, i.e. their very effectiveness is the problem. At least advertising and weapons are in this category.

Most examples are probably from chemistry. Commercial chemical products that were much later found to have devastating health consequences. Stuff like leaded gasoline, mercury teething powder (and many other uses of mercury), pesticides, various recalled medical drugs, etc.
