Tfw this board is full of low IQ “study at home” types (meaning watch youtube videos share memes that are like “TORQUE WHEN YOU APPLY A FORCE AT A RIGHT ANGLE!!!” Or otherwise skim wikipedia articles about buzzword topics like quantum and black holes while not even knowing what a lagrangian or entropy is) or otherwise schizos or pol users.

This thread is ONLY for those PURSUING OR WHO HAVE OBTAINED : a bachelors in physics (no chemistry fuck off retards) or GREATER

finally a thread for us who have BRAINS. I WORK IN PHOTONICS, I AM AN ACTUAL RESEARCH SCIENTIST, FUCK OFF SCHIZOS AND LOSERS

Hi OP here

It is in phase (k) space, so units are 1/x (1/a), this is why it is midway.

From what i recall it is the zone which you can uniquely define k values, since k is periodic on 2pi

I'm torn, because if you have a high IQ, you legitimately can learn and understand almost anything from the internet these days. However, physics is probably one of the hardest subjects to grasp without extensive coursework and practice. (In contrast to the dozens of subjects which are largely memorization mills.)

You can learn on your own, but wikipedia and youtube are not enough. You need to challenge yourself with the theory and attempt problems to understand physics. Many people believe they are self studying when really they are really just watching TV or looking at snapple facts from their ice tea

There's a reason uni and college are going out of fashion. Being seen as useless, and mostly filled with women now.
Structured learning will always provide better progression and learning from people with years and years of experience will always be better; but, your "university degree holder" is people with no real world experience who do nothing outside of school. In my experience.

Interesting.

Can you explain the energy bands splitting, especially in the context of Silicon atoms, where the end result is a band gap between "conducting" and "valence" bands? How does the lattice parameter of distance between the atoms decide, whether or not some energy levels (band) will be far lower than other energy band?

Hi OP here,

Physics as a whole needs to be inclusive. Science grows when we have more people pushing eachother, plus we (assuming you are of an equal status to me and not a poltard schizo reject) need to pay it forward. You probably got a lot of help along the way.

I think a degree is an important distinction because at the very least it signifies an approach to learn hard sciences . Yes bachelors physics is baby tier but you have ti start somewhere.

Useless retard dunning kruger retards will say things blindly, good students and scientist will be explicit on what they know and the limits of their knowledge, and are welcomed here in my figurative garden of eden (this thread.)
