Legality and mortality aside, what are all the Physics, Chemistry and Maths required for one to build a homemade nuclear reactor and become a backyard nuclear scientist? Book-lists will be greatly appreciated.

I don't think it's even illegal to build your own nuclear reactor, but they put regulations on a lot of aspects of it that prevent you from realistically doing it. Good luck getting any significant amount of U-235.

Similar to nuclear bombs. You can build the entire bomb, but obtaining the fissle material would be almost impossible legally unless you greased the right palms.

you can find on the on the onion network a manual to setup one, i don't know specifically what kind of knowledge you need for this but you can look into the terminology and start from there
