Probably not far enough to compete with algae, grass, and trees. Also what do you do with captured carbon waste? Last I heard it was forever chemicals that needed to be used in order to collect atmospheric CO2 and methane. You pretty much have to bury it and then you have a totally new environmental problem on your hands.
Meanwhile a fucking tree does it all in a more environmentally beneficial way.
