I cant get proper sleep since almost a decade of allergic rhinitis and anxiety. Thinking of going to a psychiatrist so he prescribes me some pills, but im scared of future dementia.

Whats the /sci/ veredict on sleeping pills? Will they ruin my brain faster than sleep deprivation, or there are no side effects?

I feel sort of groggy the day after if I don't get a full 8. If you wake up after taking it or try to mobilize, your movement is like a drunk baby deer. There was some warning about erections that I don't remember.

Anything that depresses brain function is playing with fucking fire. Taking this every night? Recipe for a questionable brain chemistry. You would arbitrarily force your body into a new normal, which probably will be worse for dementia risk. If it's just like a once a month thing, there's no new normal so much less risk.
