Existing multicellular organisms can tolerate extreme radiation in a manner of ways- "metabolism" is just an umbrella term for all the possible variations of this process. These mechanisms have already been catalogued. Transfection of the exact mechanism to humans, that prevents damage to cells, is not difficult, given that the funding and resources are available to refine a protocol for said transfection to adults.

I always hear normies complaining it is a waste of money (no matter if it is a government or private investment), there is the whole "billions for space, pennies for the poor" crowd, then there is the "DART is gonna send an asteroid to Earth" retards, and finally the "space is fake and invented by the illuminati reptilian jews" schizos.

The idea is that the scientist who actually made/requested the observation gets first crack at analyzing it and publishing a paper about it. This is to incentivize people actually making observations instead of lurking and sniping other people's because of how academic career progression works ("publish or perish"). Given that this is a one year static period rather than the eternal horseshit of modern copyright law it seems reasonable.

It is a brand new telescope, with multiple modes relevant to exoplanets all of which have to be understood before the data can be maximally exploited. It is not a matter of taking a screenshot of the raw spectrum and putting it on the arXiv. Most of the exoplanet observations being done now are transit spectroscopy, where precision is everything. You might think you could just publish a shitty quick analysis and then a better one later, but this is pointless. Writing two papers takes even longer. And it can hurt people proposing for new observations in Cycle 2, as the committee will see your shitty paper which failed to reach expected sensitivity.
And who would this help, you people didn't even notice these papers which gained significant media attention.

>December deadline? ... One of the big questions about the rocket concerns the lifetime of its massive solid rocket boosters, which have now been stacked for nearly two years. NASA's Cliff Lanham, who oversees ground systems, said NASA's initial analysis found that the rocket boosters provided by Northrop Grumman had a lifetime of one year. However, a subsequent analysis of their health cleared one through December 9, 2022, the other through December 14. NASA could probably extend their life further with additional analysis, Free adds. But this will be a source of concern if the Artemis I mission has to be delayed again.

I mean, they were looking at configurations that replaced the 1st stage with solids and then used a hydralox stage that would ignite in-flight.
