They would, if there were any reliable, verifiable, consistent evidence pointing to it existing. Which there isn't. It's all just schizos yelling about their drug trips, and schizo 'philosophers' making up nonsense.
But if you have an idea for an experiment or machine that would detect or verify such a "consciousness field," then by all means go ahead and tell somebody, tell anybody, tell everybody. Because if you figured out a way to prove such a field it would be big news. People across the globe would be abuzz with discussion about it. It would change the way many people see the universe. I can reduce all fields of study into base mathematics. ALL OF THEM. Even Art. Music? Childs play. Biology? See link.

Language? A massive combinatorics framework, see Latin based or Cyrillic of base systems in said equations.
Poetry? Oh, so limit it to even simpler combinations? A more focused amd defined equation?

Sociology? Easy, metrics and ratios of this or that, meta analysed for when something is "too oppressive" or not, etc. Efficiency of normal human interactions, when something is commonly seen as counter intuitive etc. Laws are logic based, as Maths is (for me, we can fite that if thou wilt).

ALL OF THEM. Math is the alphabet and fields of study are the works.
