How does one go about "breaking" a tripcode? People seem to say it's rather easy, but I'm not sure..

There's a simple algorithm for it, which I think is public (or at least obtainable).
Secure tripcodes use a similar algorithm, but they're salted with some string that is only known to the 4chan head admins. See
