There is no reaction that depresses the freezing point, its the electromagnetic attraction between H2O and Na or Cl ions that keeps the particles from crystallizing readily.

It occurs when the H2O breaks the Ionic bond of NaCl, but that doesnt depress the freezing point. The bonding force between the ions the the H2O molecule is a mechanical reaction, not chemical.
