that’s the premise of the book? that we figured it all out? lame. it’d be a more compelling work if the author studied the phenomenon of people increasingly rejecting the technologically driven sciences after public interest peaked somewhere in the mid-20th century. it would be good to examine the ways chemical and pharmaceutical corporations have effectively controlled the direction of research through conditional funding, and how their P-hacking, selective publishing, and blatant trickery have fomented a public distrust in scientific research that has driven large numbers of people to regress and sincerely embrace things like neo-paganism/spiritualism/literal abrahamic mysticism as scientific research has gotten more wonk-filled and indecipherable to the average person
