/sci/ i have recently taken interest in the prospect of getting struck by lightening at least once in my life, however, the research i have done seems to yield conflicting information. for example:

http://green.yahoo.com/blog/the_conscious_consumer/143/nine-myths-and-facts-about-lightning.html

claims that more people die of getting struck by lightening than the number of people that die by hurricanes and tornadoes.

this:

http://thelongestlistofthelongeststuffatthelongestdomainnameatlonglast.com/odds1.html

claims that there is only a 1//2,500,000 chance of dying in a lighting strike. but then it goes onto say that that as the same as a 4/5 chance you will survive. wat.

anyways, any more informed opinions?

There is no way that you can give a definitive answer as to whether or not you will die when struck by random lightening.

The number of people who have died vs the number that lived before has no bearing on the future. Idiot.

Personally, I'm afraid of the large <span class="math">\frac{di}{dt}[/spoiler] occurs during the strike. Induced current through the body, anyone?

No, thanks.

O my bad, ok, please give us the exact voltage and amperage of any given lightening strike before it hits OP and let him know if it will be fatal. Stupid shit

yeah, i can count on you for an objective, rational insight

You sir, are an idiot. No one claimed to be able to be able to predict lightening's amperage/voltage before it hits, however we can calculate fatality rates, and probabilities.

>> No.1470425

It's pretty simple. 90% of lightnining victims survived. Now, it is your turn, OP, to work out everything that comes after that.
