I had something called a "mental health evaluation," "mental illness screening" or something along those lines a couple years ago. I was in the same situation as you, but was diagnosed with social anxiety instead. A physiologist asks you and people you live with a tone of questions and builds a professional opinion.

I don't think you can do a blood test for these sorts of things, looked it up and found this article on the cdc's website:

I have trouble trusting this sort of stuff because analyzing a mind from the outside seems just as unreliable as one from the inside, but I've been happier since the diagnosis because I don't think I'm just an insane weirdo anymore.
