Who is he? Where did he come from? Why is he far more popular than Einstein?

That's nice, but no scientist is more famous than Einstein. None.

youngs modulus is a super important concept in mechanical engineering, and the double-slit experiment is a famous result in physics from young. there's also something medicine called young's eule apparently?
he's definitely a big science boy, and the the diffraction experiment has a direct analog in quantum mechanics so his name is still relevant.

i mean, Thomas Young is a good example of a semi-important physicist who was forgotten. but there are much better physicists who are much more forgotten.

take for example Kammerling Onnes. do you know who he is? he only invented cryogenics and superfluidity and superconductivity which are the bread and butter of basically every field of physics active today. totally forgotten

Just a quick look at the wikipedia page for Thomas Young will tell you that there are lot of famous guys with that name

Alright, that's relevant to his popularity, but I still remember the double slit experiment being from the 1900's.

Really? Cause last time I checked Einstein didn't help whatsoever in giving you the ability to post that garbage on a device that utilizes hertzian waveform. I hear some people still believe he had something to do with the atom bomb and GPS too, even though it's a complete myth.
Maybe that's why he's so popular, because he's just one big meme to joke about?

>>14640528
And it's still talked about to this day. It's so popular. It's just the bees knees isn't it?

Maybe it's a more common name? Ever think about that?
