Those who do not follow suit, assuming they are not brainwashed into blindly believing science lose funding and their jobs, so It's safe to assume the percentage of corruption among scientists is close to 99%

Scientists all work for corporations and government (largest corporation in the country) and must make them profit.

professional and professor both are rooted in "profess" which is a word that had all sorts of meaning associated with it, often used as a synonym for "brag" which means to stretch the truth AKA lying.
in that context they would be doing their job correctly and your beef would be with whoever it was that mislead you about their job description.
scientist are no different from actors in tv commercials, they want to influence you and sell you on their ideas.

They are employees who do as they are told and paid.
Independent science is often illegal now, and .Gov will shut you down or arrest you or not give you "permits" to conduct laboratory research unless they approve it and get a cut of the action, and tell you what you can or cannot publish.
