you can have both easily. consider that intelligence is good no matter where you are, but black skin is more beneficial in sunnier climates than white skin. Environment selects for intelligence everywhere, but skin color differently depending on where you live.
Races obviously aren't equal in skin color, it's just the supposition that skin color(or mild structural differences) go along with being a brute or something that we who think both would disagree with.

There is no proof of this whatsoever. Any attempts to quantify intelligence by region all point to the opposite.
