Why does it feel like most STEM professionals who go into the private sector are fairly smart and capable, but most modern STEM full-time researchers are bumbling retards who chronically overstate the importance of their work?

cause thats what they have to do to get funded

This. No one gets excited by “more research is needed”. People are more likely to pay for what they think will be breakthroughs.

imagine that you're in your 30s and you're still going to school every day like a small child. all the other children grew up and moved on to their adult lives long since, but you're still going to school.

The vast majority of Nobel winners are postgraduates. Very few have just a bachelor's or equivalent degree

you're desperately seeking affection from "humanity" or "the whole world" or something big like that because your mother never truly loved you. if you win the prize it'll be the same unsatisfying thing all over again, nobody cares who wins those prizes, not even you, you can't name last year's winners without referring to a search engine.

I'm not a postgraduate myself, I was just making a point about scientific achievement. The Nobel winners have actually made a meaningful contribution to humanity by advancing science- if they ended up in private sector R&D work they wouldn't even be known at all.

Research is a complete nothing career unless you go to the top 10% of universities where they actually have the funding and equipment to conduct interesting tasks. Most tertiary-level research is complete dogshit and provides no real benefits for its researchers or donors.

Most people who go into academia couldn't cut it in the industry. Unless you actually believe "Noble pursuit" bullshit, the reason they prefer academia is it's easier

If they didn't think their work was "important" they wouldn't be willing to take the pay-cut of not working in the private sector.

Jews make up 25% of all nobel prize winners, its not a prize that is given out on the basis of merit. No jew has ever done anything that merited that prize, publicity stunts and other means of manipulation are what earn the prize, not merit. If it were awarded based on merit then no jew could have ever won, no jew has ever done anything in the sciences which contributed in any way, jews only serve jewish interests.
