Hey so why are we really bothering with space exploration right now? Would it not be better to work towards more sophisticated bionics and cybernetics to allow us as humans to advance quicker overall?

For example, if we could input all the data from a technical manual into our minds and have it readily available as memories, would this not allow us to develop space travel technology(and countless other technologies) much faster, which would mean faster advancement overall?

Why is there not a National Bionics and Cybernetics Administration?

Your idea woun't work now, first we need to see the world burn.

a. that is much farther away than space exploration is
b. it does not provide us with resources, it just consumes them.

space exploration has a better return value.

We are bothering with space exploration?

>> No.1413607

it would be smarter to develop both at the same time. i'd prefer humanity colonizing the moon and mars before we stay focused on something like you're suggesting. just in case a comet comes and wipes life off the earth we'd still be alive.

Because people who call themselves transhumanists have forever tarnished to concept in the eyes of the general public, rendering it not taken seriously by anyone and generally viewed as an impossible pipe dream,

I agree with the space exploration part but only in regards to human exploration. And switching it up for bionics is just no.

Rather, we should focus on space exploration with Drones only, and put off funding for manned missions while redirecting the funds to making space travel more accessible, mainly faster. We need to get space travel at 1/10th the speed of light and not costing millions per launch at the very least before we can think about colonizing the rest of our solar system.

No and no faggots, any concept of reliable and quick space travel has been failing for quite a long time, we don't even have space shuttles that aren't just giant ballistic missiles in the amount of fuel they burn.

Light speed is most likely impossible, as hypothesised by einstein, and I am yet to hear of a quick space transportation method that could make space travel financially lucrative.

It's more along the lines that we've yet to prove it wrong despite numerous tests. Right now, it looks like exceeding the speed of light isn't possible, so any potential space travel would need a way of evading that hard limit (if one exists).

I'll tell you the problem with the scientific power that you're using here: it didn't require any discipline to attain it. You read what others had done and you took the next step. You didn't earn the knowledge for yourselves, so you don't take any responsibility... for it.

that would be more efficient but unfortunately people fear change especially change on something like our own bodies
