Through the motherfucking worm hole with me bitches. Voice of God. Am I not the best show going right now?

>> No.1410867

Oh shit that show makes me rage. They are implying, no not even implying, the are explicitly saying that string theorists are trying to find God.

God vs. Creator

One's not as bad, and one they were specifically saying they were trying to find.

PROTIP: It's the Creator.

God has horrible connotations. Creator could be as simple as the Big Bang or something like that. Much more open definition.

How else are you going to get the 95% of the worlds population that believes in magic the gathering IRL to show an interest in Science? I am surprised they are not showing pictures of a cross in the strings lol.

>> No.1410893

>>1410884

Matter of time.

And not every episode is about that sort of stuff. Plus, in that Creator episode, they showed the God Helmet, suggesting that 'holy' experiences may just be something in the brain.

Not all pro spirituality people.

"Creator" implies a conscious entity that purposefully acted to create. They are trying to find God. They literally say it in the show. It's the whole setup of the show.

>> No.1410900

The show gives about equal times to the god vs no god views in science. That's misleading.

>>1410895
Don't Equivocate the term. Even if you give Creator a consciousness, it doesn't equal God. God is very different, and more commonly closely tied up with Judeo-Christian ideas. That Creator episode is a lot more open. It would be unfair to the show and not true to suggest they are looking for God specifically. Throughout that episode they specifically say Creator as well, making the distinction clear.

A pretty fucking good one. There are scientists that believe in god. Not a lot, but there are. That doesn't mean those scientists aren't totally full of shit tough, because they are. The show gives them a platform to spread their shit.

Because it's not all God/Creator shit. Whole bunch of controversial science shit.

...AND THE SHOW GIVES COUNTER ARGUMENTS.

Wtf people. Did you rage and just quit because you can't listen to something you don't find true? To argue you have to listen. They give lots of theories in that episode. It's not all jacking off to God/Creator theories.

>> No.1410957

>>1410942
They point is they give balanced time to both views which creates a controversy in science that just isn't there. They set the null hypothesis to "there is a god". That's not science. They don't reach a conclusion either, they just leave it as an open question as if scientists are still widely divided.

Well, let's say the Creator episode is flawed merely for the fact that it presents basically false dichotomy when there isn't one in the name of trying to show two sides (regardless of whether one side is crackpot, they still try to show it). Also, there probably isn't a huge religious base watching this show. It's on the Science Channel.

Did you people watch the other ones or not?

That's the worst thing about it. Religion has no place on a science channel except in a historic context.

No, I stopped at episode one because it was shit.

Well that's a terrible policy. You should be ashamed. One episode doesn't not pollute the rest. Just means there is one bad episode.

Also, your inductive base is bad then. Using only one example. That isn't science fool.

Are you lecturing me on science now? Goddamn...

Aside from the religion stuff I just didn't like the setup of the show. It's popular science. I was hoping I could actually learn something. Instead I got a shit episode with dumbed down science for the masses.

>> No.1411044

>>1411038

Well, what did you expect? It's the Science Channel. It has to be enough science for people to watch and understand.

It's not like they will go up there and start doing the math behind this shit. You just go to college for that. I get why you're upset, but I think you expected too much.
