Jupiter is scary

>> No.1398814

Space in general is pretty scary, but beautiful.

I find the ocean on Earth to be the most scariest thing for me though. There's just so much we don't know about it.

You just gave me a good idea.

You know the show "Planet Earth" that was very successful.

Yeah hopefully in 30 years they have that only for shit like Jupiter and Saturn.

Call it "Our Solar System".

There might be static electric discharges on the Moon powerful enough to be seen from Earth:

The problem with that is the atmospheres of those planets are just too hostile for us to get close to. At least from what I understand, I'm no professional or anything but I assume it would be quite difficult to get any real good pictures or videos of planets that are deemed too dangerous for out technology.

Then again we could always just make it up in CGI but it wouldn't be as intricate and revealing as real footage of the planets.

our* technology, sorry about that.

Well... the technology available at the moment.

Electronics and technology will continue to grow exponentially, and maybe at one point in the future we'll be able to study in depth all the planets of our solar system.

The question is: Does humanity really want to? They'd much rather talk about some celebrity having sex with a hooker.. It saddens me to know that humans would rather gossip than seek enlightenment.

I'm sure the technology is POSSIBLE, but its not very logical to develop considering our global economic state right now. Countries don't have the money to spend on space technology while they are still recovering from huge loans from other countries and banks and etc.

As far as humans go, I don't think our popular culture is mature enough yet to fathom the importance of the universe. But for the large demographic who do enjoy it, we are ready.

There is no video* from other planets. None, none at all.

It could be done. We could send a probe to Jupiter or Saturn. One such approach to exploring Jupiter is via a nuclear powered ramjet that flies high enough where the pressures are tolerable. Given that it's nuclear powered and has very little in the way of moving parts it could stay aloft for a very long time.

I agree.

Sorry if you misunderstood my post but I sort of implied that there is no actual footage of those planets,

The ramjet looks interesting but I don't see it as very realistic in our close future. It would have to be very large and heavy and we all know how expensive it is to send something like that to space. It is very well thought out though and I like the idea but there's too much risk in the project.

900 kg isn't that heavy. The Viking orbiter was more massive than that.
