Can someone explain me what that Higgs boson is all about?
I've read 2 articles + wikipedia entry but i still don't get it because people use so many big words i get confused...

It is what God is made of

Well you have to study particle physics if you really want to understand it in any meaningful way

Nah i don't want to understand the whole thing, i only want to know what it proves or disproves and what it does, not how it does this.

It should be the last particle that defines mass and therefore gravity as well.

If it exists then our current standard model for particles holds true. If it doesn't then everything needs to be completely rethought!!!!

If the higgs boson exists, it defines mass and therefore gravity.

If you could generate a sufficient stream of higgs bosons, and fire them above your head, could you levitate?

Oh wow that sounds interesting.
Imagine the possibilities.

Thanks guys.

I'm just hoping for some holodeck action.

eeh, not really how it works.
mostly because nobody knows exactly how the thing would/will function. can you even interact with it? Does it exert gravitational pull on its surroundings? can you isolate it from its constituent parts?

I read somewhere that observation of higgs boson would prove that it doesnt exist or some shit. Does anyone care to explain or tell me I'm stupid?
