So, I wondered;
why are there so many "discussion" over whether field X is a science or not?
I mean, science is just a definition, is it benificial for anything to be able to call one's major "science"?
(I know, posting this on a board named "science" will get me lots of biased opinions, but since there's only trolling stuff going on at the moment, I'll give it a try)

no discussions, just trolls trolling trolls.

a field of study falls within the realm of science if its methods involve the scientific method. *ahem* the Scientific Method.

Some people have the delusion that their field is superior to others (like a physicist saying that e.g. research psychology isn't a science), however most people in here are just trolls without a degree who don't realize that science is a collaboration and all fields (fields that use the scientific method) are contributing to our understanding.

Peasants feeling empowered that todays modern hyperspecialization lets commoners work assembly-line research jobs.

Of course people lacking in character will bicker and show off to one another.
