Okay i know there are alot of christian on this board so i though it would be a good idea to open this new treath to share our experiences about the Bible, Jesus and God.

How did you become religious?, Has your believe in Jesus as messiah ever helped you at some point in your life?, How often do do pray?

I remember laying in the sweet summer grasses, the sweet clover in Northern Missouri. How great it was to just lay down, to just be still, and to listen, and hear God's voice speak. How great to hear his voice in the wind. I would always ended up humming a song in my head. A song that goes like this:

Hell yes, it has. I mean, it's not like Jesus is ever going to come down from the heavens and help me get a job personally or some stupid shit like that. But the fact is that prayer helps you sort in your own mind what you want in life. Then, once you know what you want, you can go out into the world and take it.
The truth is, even if you pray every day non-stop, it's obvious that God isn't going to do shit for you. You have to take action, that's what I believe. Prayer can help some people, and others feel unaffected. Whatever, guy. It's your choice.

Have you ever read the bible? Odds are, if you say yes, it wasn't the old testament. As I grew older, I realized how many people in many other faiths have the same elitist attitude toward every other. There are no differences. You all follow the book you want to follow, but in the end, if you had been raised Mormon or had been raised Jewish, or Muslim, or any other religion, you would feel the exact same way about that one.

I stopped believing in god a long time ago. It was a gradual process, beginning with the fact that we only went to church once every year or so. I never even really understood the notion of god at the time. Once summer though, my parents didn't want us around the house during the day and sent me and my sister to vacation bible school. There i learned that the dinosaur fossils that I had been obsessed with at the time were all lies told to us by the evil darwinists, so I told my parents that I didn't like it there and they let me stop going. From there, I pretty much just stopped believing in all that Christian bullshit, which was when I was about 9.

I've got a question for you, as well as every other person of "faith" within this thread:

The one you worship is supposed to be benevolent, all-knowing, amazing, caring, nurturing, omnipotent, and infinite, right? Why would God create a human being like me only to be damned? If things were the way they were in the bible, why would he create me, KNOWING that the man I will become will need more proof to wholeheartedly believe in him, just to damn me to hell when I die because I don't follow the same mind set as others he has created?

That's what doesn't make sense to me. If the way we act and our attempts to show you what we believe about that thing you call the bible are simply just "tests from God" for you, the true believer, why the fuck would I worship something that created me simply to be a test for you?

And, if he created me in hopes that I would worship him, than he is not all-knowing. If he created me to be damned, knowing I would never follow him down that path, he is not benevolent.

Eh, I'll bite. I'm pretty Christian, was raised one but never really got into it, went through a phase of being super emo/angsty and satanist. Realized that just got me addicted to cigarettes, drugs, and porn and kept me from making smart choices and I hurt my friends a lot. So I randomly picked up a Bible, they were handing them out at school and I had my friend get one for me. Read it over and thought "Gee, I could really take some tips from this on how to be less of a pathetic waste of flesh" Eventually I came round to becoming a fairly devout Christian, although I rarely visit church (creepy people there man...)

Yes, my belief in Jesus and his teaching (most importantly his teaching) help me in life, if I follow the path as he would I tend to be much much happier and people seem to enjoy the company of a nice guy more then a drugged up Satanist.

I pray about 2-3 times a day, generally in the morning/lunch, Dinner, and before bed (ALWAYS BEFORE BED I DUNNO WHY) it helps me to get things off my mind and confess anything I feel guilty about.

Trolling was not my first motive, there really are alot of christians on this board. Just was curious what would happen if we hold together here.

I am christian myself, once was a sceptic atheist, but after pounding some hard questions, i got just the right insights and came to the conclusion it is more logic to continue my life as (sceptic) christian.

I`m not that fanatic to be honest, verry rarely pray, always try to fall back on my own abilities.

Thing is i feel a verry strong aversion against atheism. Ateists like richard dawkins are as litteral as orthodox religious. And i found that sceince alone can never be enough to form a grounded and stable worldview.
