How do you folks feel about Carl Sagan?

Pic related. Its Carl Sagan.

>> No.1357994

He's a pretty cool guy and doesn't afraid of anything.

One reply?

Thats all /sci/ feels about Carl Sagan?

I would figure you /sci/entists would think of Carl Sagan as a great man.

>> No.1358031

let's clone him from his bones

>> No.1358037

I think Cosmos is a pretty cool guy, eh makes science more mainstream and doesn't afraid of anything.

Wouldn't really be worth it; it's not like his brain is stored within his DNA.

>> No.1358049

>>1358047

but we would teach him science from his childhood and we would probably get a good scientist

but we would reproduce his brain from his DNA

The knowledge wouldn't be there, but the capacity for it would.

he explains stuff brilliantly, and was a great aid to the general public. However, from a purely academic point of view he was just another scientist (much like dawkins)

Sagan had a bone marrow disease. We should not bring him back until we have a cure

>> No.1358151

>>1358076
This.

Also, wouldn't cloning him from his bones lead to some disastrous illness right from conception, because of the bone marrow disease?

>> No.1358187

>>1358076
we should at least wait until cannabis is pretty uniformly legalized so he can smoke it again
it's common courtesy to the man

>> No.1358218

He's wonderful and eloquent. His endeavor to spread science to the population through showing it's beauty and soundness is a noble one.

I love the fella. He's a perfect example of why a contribution to science doesn't have to be through a publication, and every pop science writer should be held against him as a standard.

polite sage

You don't know much about cloning do you?

>> No.1358268

He's much loved, that's for sure.

Does Lawrence Krauss compare well to him, /sci/?

Good for spreading interest in science.

Wrong about the UFO phenomenon.

Got it right here in my hand.

There is plenty of evidence for what we would call extraterrestrial technology.

I once watched him explain the Drake Equation. Ever since then, I have hated him. However, that is a bit unfair. I think watching anyone fill out the variables in the Drake Equation will cause you to dislike them.

something about his voice, the way he pronounces random words in sentences... with a hard T

"BBBillions and BBBIllions of years"

I don't know what was with his pronunciation of that word.

Hmmm butthurt "pop-science is shit SAGE" guy hasn't shown up yet. I'm okay with this.

Because it's not as if EVERY scientist is just another scientist. He was a intelligent, poetic man, who not only popularized science but rational ideology as whole. I think we need another one like him.
