Have any of you done elite internships? If so, explain what company/organization you worked for, how you got the job and your experience

Why all the talk about internships? Applications won't be until september, at the very earliest.

>> No.1282254

In my internship I worked on a project for one of the top researchers in neuroscience in my country.

I got the job by emailing him. I never thought I'd get it lol. I just sent him an email and he said, OK come on by my office tomorrow, and I did. He just explained what kind of projects he had going and asked which one seemed the most interesting to me and that was it. Worked for him for 6 months and learned more in that period than in the rest of my bachelors.

I did one of those internships at Genentech.

Jesus christ I'm never going to work for those fuckers, I grew up thinking that this was one of the coolest companies around, and was severely underwhelmed. I guess people are right saying that they are more about businessmen and marketing these days, as opposed to you know, research.

Blame La Roche buying them out. They're basically just another big pharma company now.

My dad used to be a senior engineer there before we moved to the UK, I think that was one of the reasons he left.
