Are most murderers mentally ill?
If so, wouldn't compulsory psychological testing help to reduce crimes? Or at least Columbine style shootings?

What is considered Insanity varies from culture to culture. well i take a very liberal definition of mental illness.
Proactive mental health, could end up managing our mental lives like we manage our physical fitness. You may not be sick but you could still use some workout, in the end it will act to protect you from future injury.

Good mental health is the same. Taking a proactive position in your mental health to decrease stressors, increase resiliance, and build a complete cache of healthy mental coping stretegies - will prevent mental illnesses.
Also it'll give you laser vision.

I'd like to say most murderers have a smaller frontal lobe, where they'd have less control over impulses, such as an agitated amygdala.

Like the texas sniper case, he killed 14 people, wounded 32; but come to find out years later from autopsy he had a tumor on his amygdala, causing his frontal lobe to not be able to control impulses from it.


As for ones like Ted Bundy, I have no idea.

What I think should happen compulsorily is that all school children see counselors at school (preferably PHDs) regularly and THEY should be the ones who see events like 'Columbine' "coming" and they will probably also possibly able to catch things like sexual abuse and physical abuse as well.
