I have 100 IQ, can I get a masters or higher in math?

>> No.12794043

No one with an iq higher than 100 would be stupid enough to get a masters or higher in math

You mentioning your IQ already proves you have a fixed mindset and are bound to fail. Go work in a farm

Someone with an IQ of 100 today would have had an IQ of around 125 in 1905 and would have certainly done an MSc.

Yes. I tested 98 IQ at age 14. Now I have a PhD in math and am a professor at an R1 university researching pesticide distribution.

Depends. What test did you use? Raven’s advanced matrices is probably the most useful for fluid IQ, which is the most helpful in math.

The average IQ of a math major is about 130. Assuming you go into applied math, you can probably knock that down to 120. Then you could get a bachelors with some work, and maybe a Masters, but that’s pushing the envelope a bit. In any case, by the time you get there, your professor can tell you if you’re ready for grad school.

Yes you can.
Intelligence is more about being able to do things in many different fields. With strong and dedicated focus you can do any one thing.
I know people with higher degrees who are almost fully retarded in everything expect their degree topic.

Why would you want to go "get a masters" in math? "Getting a masters" often just means going and sitting around a university, dicking around, going to some room where a professor explains in a poorly planned, extemporaneous way what you can (probably) just download off libgen, or if you really like having physical copies of books can get for like $500 (couple weeks at McDonalds). You read some papers, read more papers, find some minutiae in the system and conventions of logic that (probably) nobody gives a shit about (hell, your proof could even be "flawed" and your prof committee might just not have the chops to correct it) and then you get put in some list as "Having a Masters".

This. The average person today is just as smart as Einstein was. A regular retard is as smart as Euler. The average dog is as smart as Newton. The Corona virus is as smart Archimedes. Read about the Flynn-effect, sheepie.

IQ is fucking meaningless

136 here with a 37 on his MCAT (old version) and I live in my childhood home with an oxycodone addiction at the age of 31. My old college roommate had an SAT score (combined math and verbal) of 1000 and he's an engineer for Boeing.

My father's IQ was tested at 152 at the end of high school, and he got a similar score in the Army iirc. Given the heritability of IQ I'm probably up there as well. Needless to say though, there's a lot more going on than ur eye cue. A high score can probably sabotage someone as much as a low score can falsely deflate and demotivate someone, and the inverse as well, a false high score could motivate someone as well.

Just ignore the BS. Focus on learning about yourself and what you want to do. Metacognition, self exploration, whatever. You are you, and you'll do what you will, to the extent that you can. And that's basically the beginning and the end of it, no matter who you are. Just do what you need to do. Inflexibly perservere through failure if you want, yield to failure if you want. Accept some vague notion of your palce in the natural order if you want, reject and try to thwart the natural order if you want. Doesn't matter.

Do you like math? Have you done reasonably well at math to this point? Those are the important questions regarding your capability. Whether it's worthwhile to pursue a Master's degree in math is a different question.

>> No.12799353

Because at the end of the day if you want to get a comfy teaching job you still need to have the piece of paper. Going to school is only done buy anyone because of that reason alone (with the exception of networking). Any non-brainlet can teach themselves anything but if you choose to live in society you have to play the game.

Of course, advance degrees have more to do with preparation and persistence than they do with intelligence.

In fact extras intelligence is probably more of a detriment, since smart people can think of better things to do with their time
