>SOLAR FREAKING ROADWAYS

what ever happened to this larp? It was like the Kony2012 of 2014

Didn't go anywhere because it was a scam. Now people are more caught up in Elon Musk's numerous scams.

the fuck does Elon Musk have to do with Solar Roadways?

Didn't you see the 20 videos made by Thunderfag on them?

Thunderf00t? Is that you?

Solar power itself is a scam.
Only thing good is that it has no moving parts and convenient but that's about it

They just installed on a few miles from me. Can't believe anyone is still going in for this crap.

>Peachtree Corners' solar installation will produce more than 1,300 kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, according to the city.
>Average household electricity usage in Georgia – 1,088 kWh Per Month
So the Solar Fucking Roadway will produce enough electricity in a year to power one house for about five weeks.

And it only costed the price of 5 houses

At least solar panels on an electric car makes sense, I can't even imagine how having roads, which cars drive on all day long, having solar panels in them would sound good.

lol no
That's called "over-engineering"
You kept on adding features because "it can help" without knowing that it's not worth the cost.

For example: depending on your country, gas may be cheaper than solar installation
Solar takes 8 years to break even but cars are not always under the sun
And solar has a limited lifespan of 20-30 years.

If you plan to go around the country side and camp somewhere far, sure, take it.
But if you are just travelling city to city, you are just costing yourself a whole lot more.

Solar panels on cars can't even power basic accessories.

So what was the logic behind this idea in the first place? Some STEM midwits seriously must have thought "roads are black, solar panels are black... what if...?" And then just continued to double down for years
I'm always surprised how many pretty normal/smart people were fooled by this absolutely retarded idea.
A guy i know in college who majored in engineering used to go on about it, calling it the next big thing and the greatest idea ever. I still give him shit about it, it took a long time for him to admit he got sucked in.

It's a meme that will never work. Thermoelectric roads on the other hand...

>we will never live in a society that just fucking uses nuclear and powers everything with it (whether it be EV batteries of otherwise)

Well at least the eventual property crash will be fun to see like 1/4 of all buildings in major cities right now are worthless.

It's one guy in northern Idaho who came up with the idea. The local town is mostly made up of retirees so it was easy for him to get the town to allocate funds for a prototype in the town square. From that point it snowballed as the IFLS! crowd learned about it and made the idea go viral. Suddenly money was flowing in from the plebbit scientism crowd, which then caught the attention of celebrities who thought supporting it would get them attention from IFLS! and plebbit. Once the celebrities were touting it, next came the politicians with bags of public funds to spend on projects they could put their name and face on.
Meanwhile people with basic engineering knowledge and just plain old common sense were trying to point out the fundamental flaws but they were shouted down by the IFLS! crowd and downvoted into oblivion on plebbit. After all, the celebrities, many on Trek Wars type tv shows and movies had endorsed the idea, which was all the proof that was needed that it was viable. Anyone questioning the idea was labeled a luddite loser who was mad that someone else came up with a good idea.

don't worry, he's probably a shill straight from thunderf00t or common sense skeptic's channel
