Well it happened /sci/. I took a real IQ test and got the results.
Apparently I have have superior intelligence, one standard deviation below 130 so I’m not a genius but I already knew that. I don’t know how to feel about it. One one hand it’s nice to have a high score but on the other it kinda highlights that I’m underachieving at the moment (see: posting here). Though considering the Theory of Multiple Intelligences I doubt I’ll put much thought into it in the future.

Excuse the blogpost and let me get to my point.

Do we as a society put too much thought into these intelligence tests when people have various strengths and weaknesses that average up or down the final number?

Would it be better in the future to normalize tests that avoid having this “final number” that can influence (for good or bad) the way people think about themselves in the future?
